Patience & Projects

If you know me, you know that I’m a very patient person. Lately, I have found myself being a little impatient when it comes to creative projects. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely looooove the creative process, I get lost in it and it’s pure greatness!!

I think the impatience comes from not being able to release the work into the world due to several reasons. Some of the reasons are beyond your control and others are completely in your control. I currently have 3 projects that are “Pending” all for different reasons…

The ones that are beyond your control, tend to turn into a waiting game and eventually they get shelved never to be seen again. It’s a little disappointing because our minds (or at least mine) get filled with these thoughts of “This is a great project” “So much creative juices and collaboration went into this” etc… Then we try to turn those thoughts into “Maybe it wasn’t meant to be” in order to move on to the next thing. Every now and then, it pops back up in the back of your mind and you wonder “what if”

Now, the ones that are in your complete control (passion/personal projects) are a whole other story…

Let me tell you a little about my experience…

I get an idea and I want to act on it right away (well, that’s the intention) Then slowly, the perfectionist in me starts waking up and stretching, disecting every detail, overthinking starts to set in and then WTF!!

Patience is a big factor in both. Patience in others and patience in yourself. We have to trust the journey of our creative projects and know that if they don’t see the light of day, maybe we need to go back and tweak them and not give up on them entirely.

I know all of you creative creatures out there can relate to this, I can’t be the only one.

Let’s keep creating and learning to be patient.
